[Webinar] D2L: Developing students into lifelong learners using structured video assessment

No matter what industry students enter upon graduation, the jobs they fill and the skills they need to perform will likely change over time. Rapid technological advances continue to shorten the shelf life of many specialized skills, so it’s become increasingly important for learners to have non-technical skills when they enter the workforce.

Top job surveys have found that employers value graduates who possess cross-cutting skills like communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem solving. Organizations look for candidates with soft skills like these because they transfer across all industries, apply to roles beyond the one they start in, and impact how adaptable they are to workplace changes.

Higher ed institutions understand this need, but it’s difficult to assess and develop students’ soft skills at scale.

Join us for a webinar on August 29th at 2:00 PM to learn:

  • What the current skills demand looks like
  • Which competencies employees need to remain employable for the long term
  • How experiential video exercises enable scalable skill development

D2L Fusion – July 15th – 17th

When individuals demonstrate skills and knowledge on video, evaluators get an authentic representation of what they can do.

Join us on July 15th at 1:55 EST to see how Virtual Classroom and Video Assignments combines experiential exercises, personalized feedback, and learner engagement to enable measurable skill development.

Skills gaps exist in part because evaluators often rely on indirect evidence from paper-based assessments to gauge an individual’s comprehension level. Choosing or describing the right answer isn’t the same as putting knowledge into action. In order to close these gaps, learners need skill-building opportunities and timely
feedback to help them improve. To this point, resource constraints have made it difficult for organizations to scale skill practice and evaluation using traditional methods.
